We (my wife, 2 year old daughter and I) moved from USA to Canada in June 2017. We were employed full-time in the U.S., and I'm working remotely for the same employer from Canada. My employer still pays in the same manner (USD and deducting US taxes) and my wife got job with a Canadian firm and have been working with them since September 2017.

Our (me and my wife) visa status in Canada is permanent residents and we are all US citizens.

We need assistance in filing our US and Canadian taxes.

I can help you. You will have to file a Canadian tax return as a resident of Canada, along with your wife. This is under the assumption that both of you are now living in Canada permanently and do not intend to return to the US in the near future. Both of you will be taxable in Canada on your global earnings.

If your and your wife's work assignments in Canada are temporary in nature and you will be returning to the US in the near future, then we will file non-resident returns in Canada for both of you with the Canada Revenue Agency. Non-residents of Canada are taxable on their Canadian sourced income, including income from employment services performed in Canada.

To avoid double taxation, you can claim a foreign tax credit on your US return for the Canadian taxes paid.
