Hi,
I am self-employed in construction and I read your article on How to save tax - paragraph Pay salary to family members.
1. I just made a report for 2020 and I think I earned $ 150,000.00. My spouse did not work for most of the year. She got employed in December 2020 at one other company. Is there a way to pay her a salary for the past year?
2. When we submit taxes together, are we not considered as one household?
Thank you
It's too late to pay a salary to your spouse. Salary payments cannot be back-dated. If you are the sole owner, you will have to pay tax on the income earned, even though you are one household.
