I am a Canadian PR holder currently working in Saudi Arabia. I received my PR Status only last year i.e. 2016 July. I was in Canada for 5 months last year from July to December and then retuned back to Saudi Arabia to continue my work.
During this period of stay I received Canada Child benefit, and have never worked in Canada till date.
I hold a Canadian bank account and a credit card, the balance in my TD account is 80K as I keep transferring my foreign salary every month, can you please confirm if I need to apply my tax returns even though I don’t work in Canada and no longer claim CCB benefits nor any of my family is staying in Canada.
If your answer is yes, then how can I file my tax returns when outside of Canada?
Total period of my stay in Canada is 5-6 months, and no job done during this period of time
Thanks
You were a non-resident of Canada, since you temporarily stayed in Canada, and left after a few months. In addition, you had very few ties to Canada. You are not eligible for the Canada Child Benefit and you cannot file a tax return as a resident of Canada, until you move to Canada permanently.
