I recently submitted my departure paperwork from Canada and filed my departure taxes. As I owned a Canadian-Controlled Private Corporation (CCPC), I updated the fiscal year-end and submitted amended returns to the CRA. However, after several months, "My CRA" account still displays the old year. My corporation is provincially incorporated; should I notify the provincial authorities as well? Could that be the reason for no updates?
Hi Sam,
The CRA should have reflected the updated year-end if you specified the deemed year-end on Box 61, checked "Yes" to Box 66 and selected "Other Private Corporation" in box 40 on the amended T2 return.
If you did all of the above and the CRA has not updated the year-end, then contact the CRA for an explanation.
