Hi Mad,
I Just received My PR Visa and I ll be landing in Canada for the first time in May 2018. I ll stay for 15 days and will leave Canada to resume my Job outside Canada. Do I need to submit my personal tax return each year? Secondly once I will return to Canada, Do I need to pay any tax on money which I will save during my stay outside Canada?
Hi, you will not have to file a Canadian tax return for the 2018 tax year, since you were in Canada for only 15 days. Non-residents (including Canadian PR card holders and Canadian citizens) can visit Canada for up to 182 days in any 12 month period without being treated as a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
In addition, the income and savings that you accumulate outside of Canada, while you are a non-resident of Canada, can be brought to Canada with you when you permanently move to Canada without being subject to Canadian income tax.
